BEST DRESSED: 2016 VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS
All of the bad ass looks from MTV’s VMA Awards.
Queen Bey was at the top of our list, slaying in this stunningly-angelic Francesco Scognamiglio dress. There were so many elements that made this dress an absolute hit: the intricate beading, collared feathers, and the caged-like bust hugging her vivacious curves in all of the right places.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Taylor Hill walked on the white carpet as a modern-day, glammed out Wilma Flintstone in this Moschino gown. It’s obvious the design of this dress was highly inspired by elements of the Stone Age. The sheer placement cutouts and raw edges made this asymmetrical dress something interesting and unique that was unlike any of the other looks.
Heidi Klum dressed appropriately chic showing off her mile-long legs in a Roberto Cavalli mini. With mixed media embellishments mimicking camouflage patches, she made a statement without taking too much attention away from the artists that were walking the white carpet.
We absolutely loved Hailee Steinfeld in Balmain. Although it was easily guessed by the silhouette which designer this dress belonged to, it was captivating to see a rainbow color palette rather than the usual metallic, sparkly nude tones that popular celebrities tend to don. It was vibrant, age-appropriate and fun.
Contrary to what all the critics are saying, we actually loved Justine Skye’s fringed frock, notoriously by none other than Missoni from their Resort 2017 collection. The multi-color look with the added hot pink pumps made this look loud and dazzling, which is exactly what any MTV production is all about.
Rita Ora channeled sultry, gothic vibes with this interesting and one-of-a kind Marc Jacobs’ design. She added grunge attitude to her lingerie-like suit and feathered overcoat with her black, high platform shoes. It was dark and dismal but twisted in a way that we just couldn’t help but love it.
Stella Maxwell had some fun mixing 70s and modern day trends in this psychedelic, two-piece set by Moschino. The crop top showed off her petite, mini-set frame and her flared pants accentuated her long legs, while the print kept this look vibrant and groovy, baby.
The better than revenge, peek-a-boo jumpsuit Hailey Baldwin rocked the white carpet in was by Georges Chakra. There’s not much you can say when a look is almost perfect. It was sexy, on-trend and very daring for the young starlet making her one of our top dressed choices at the awards show.
Bring on the sex appeal, Nicki Minaj. We loved this sheer, cut-out gown by Tao Banchi because it was a little more toned down for the artist. The body-hugging dress had panels that were strategically-placed in all the right spots, yet still revealing her curvy body and the gorgeous navy was the perfect accent with her skin tone.
Kim Kardashian was casually sexy in a sheer, little black dress that we just cannot figure out which designer it belongs to. After a little investigation, this dress of choice happened to be a last minute pick based on the fact that she asked her Twitter followers what her ensemble should be for the night. She opted for fresh-out-the-shower hair and a bronze, highlighter look for her face making this look feel effortless.
