BEST OF FASHION WEEK STREET STYLE 2016
Get inspired from the street style walkers of New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.
My day one mantra about getting inspired with style has always been to browse through the many stylish go-getters on the streets of fashion week. We’re graced with the photography of street stylish males and females as they gallivant the concretes of NY, London, Paris and Milan each season – and sadly, this season was our first without the legendary Bill Cunningham presenting the arts through his lense (RIP). Nevertheless, Phil Oh made sure he captured every trend-setting soul out there. We saw the fashionable and familiar faces of Miroslava Duma, Nicole Warne, Giovanna Battaglia and of course, Anna Della Russo.
So, what trends actually paved the way on the thoroughfares of these countries?
New York was all about the revival of the ’90s – silk camisole dresses layered underneath white tees, as well as silk lace camisoles (they’re not just for the bedroom anymore, folks). A lot traditional looks from different cultures were showcased as well as t-shirt dresses and ruffles galore.
London was like a technicolor production; Vibrant colors made an impact that drew our eyes directly. A plethora of skirt silhouettes were styled with crisp button downs and pristine ruffle tops that we couldn’t get enough of, and everything was oversized. Dresses, pants, tops – you name it. The messier the look, the chicer it was. Goodbye tailoring!
Milan was all about prints, prints, and more prints. Camouflage was extremely prominent in skirts and jackets as well as black on black and neutral hues. Statement-making jackets were all the rave; From studs and rhinestones to embroidery. We saw a multitude of people infusing oriental culture and designs into their wardrobes, and believe it or not, the corset belt is making its debut.
Lastly, it was apparent that Paris was the chilliest of them all. The iconic and timeless trench coat flooded the streets as well as oversized pantsuits in gray, black and even menswear inspired plaids. The denim jacket is making a huge comeback (Old Navy, here we come!) and even whimsical floral patterns in array of tones. Another revival style from the ’90s? Pink hair. It was everywhere in Paree.
