HOW TO

WIZARD OF OZ HALLOWEEN

Lions and tigers and bears… Oh My!

After last year’s epic Halloween festivities and intense group costumes (see here and here), we decided we wanted to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve 2016 with a bang again. For Halloweekend part 1, we made a plan to trek up the mountains (literally) and took an eight hour drive to see one of our best friend’s in Youngstown, Ohio, where we attended an epic Halloween party. In classic A2F fashion, we wanted to come up with a brilliant theme that we’ve never done before, and one that suited all four of our characteristics. We decided to follow the proverbial yellow brick road and dress as the Wizard of Oz. In creating our looks, we wanted to make them a bit more modern and added our own little twang in each costume. Needless to say, our looks came together and it was a huge success.

We’re firm believers of creating an outfit with pieces that are already in your closet, so this look was pretty simple to put together because Aya owned most of these pieces already. A multitude of silver tops will work to achieve the ultimate tin man appeal (ie., metallics, sequins, etc.) and flashy leggings was a no-brainer. We added silver glitter for the hair and topped it off with an extremely cheap plastic funnel that we spray painted silver ourselves. Holes were punched on each side of the funnel and we strung a large elastic band through so that it could stay on all night. This complete look was under $50, so it’s totally viable to say you can look great on Halloween without breaking the bank!

You too can become an effortless and super-chic cowardly lion! All it takes is pairing your favorite faux fur vest (a must-have in every woman’s closet if you don’t own one) with a brown sweater dress and tall boots. This costume is perfect for the girl with a whole ‘lotta hair. The “mane” was created by teasing and spraying hair spray constantly in her hair for about 30 minutes to an hour. Minimal makeup was used in the creation of this costume, so this look was extremely easy to attain.

Darling Dorothy was another easy getup to create. Dania recreated Dorothy in her own fabulous way by purchasing a light blue fit-and-flare dress that was sleek and edgy. The execution of her hairstyle was brought to you by Sedu’s Clipless Curling Wand, and she finished the look by loosely tying two braids with red ribbons. Her DIY ruby red slippers was a huge hit – she bought pointed toe pumps and spray painted them red, then dipped them in red glitter. To top her whole look off, she polished her pout with that same red glitter.

We hope everyone has a spectacular Halloween!
