PANCAKES 3 WAYS

One pancake base, 3 different flavors.

pancakes

To be honest, I’m more of a waffle girl. If I were given the choice between pancakes or waffles at a restaurant, 99% of the time I would choose waffles.  However, when it’s a rainy Sunday morning at my parents house, I always choose pancakes.  Now if there’s something you must know about my immediate family, it’s that we all have very different tastes when it comes to our sweet tooth.  My dad is big on textures and my mom is into unique flavors, while my brother and sister are a good standard “all things chocolate, all things candy, all things brownies, doughnuts, and cookies”.  I fall somewhere in the midst of all that, I pretty much appreciate everything.

So the point of my ramblings are that it is impossible to choose one pancake to please all of our palettes… and that is why I am sharing how to make a simple pancake base & customize it 3 different ways. I know it must be so much easier to just make a buttermilk pancake and have toppings on the side, but let’s be real…it just doesn’t taste as good.  So as we were trying to compromise on what to eat the morning of Superbowl Sunday, we decided on chocolate chip pancakes, banana pecan pancakes, and blueberry pancakes…and they were all made at the same time.

The tip to this recipe is to already have your pancake flavors chosen. For ours, we grabbed three different bowls and began placing the toppings in them so that when we were done with the batter, we would mix them in last minuted.  We added semi-sweet chocolate chips to the first bowl, an overly ripe banana, cinnamon, and chopped pecans to the second bowl, & frozen blueberries tossed in flour for the third.
