FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Celebrating one year of marriage.
Today marks my first wedding anniversary. It’s been one year since our wedding day. I can’t fathom it. We didn’t believe it when people told us that “the first year flies by.” However, to my surprise, it has been of the fastest years of my life. I woke up remembering the emotions that were going through my mind and body before slipping into my white dress. Calculating all of the possibilities of the unknown and feeling anxious, yet excited. To think of all the things I experienced and accomplished with Mustafa in 365 days makes me excited for our future together.
The highlights of our year: moving into a high rise apartment in Charlotte, officially titling us as an “uptown” couple. Packing our bags, taking mini trips and exploring together. Intermingling and getting to know each other’s family roots. Celebrating many holidays together. And my personal favorite, our summer Euro trip, which I deem the best thing we have done.
Our travels were during our 8 months of marriage. It was at a period when we were yearning for a much needed break. Whether it’s two weeks or just two days, I highly recommend traveling with your spouse (near or far) during the first year. We were given the title as ‘tourists’ to these countries, but I found myself a tourist standing hand in hand with my husband. During that time, we truly grew together. Our knowledge and love for one another deepened getting lost in these ancient cities side by side.
This year has been scintillating and enthralling. Nevertheless, if it was dull and lackluster, we always have love. I look forward to continuing this journey of growth and strengthening our bond each and ever year!
