RAMADAN DRIED FRUIT TRAY
You can’t go wrong with a dried fruit tray, especially during Ramadan.
Hands down one of the hardest decisions I have to make during Ramadan is what to bring when I’m invited to someone’s house for dinner. You guys know me, I’m usually ALL about baking something sweet. I love to bake and people love to eat… but sometimes dessert isn’t always the best answer (shocking, I know).
I’ll give you an example. At my parents’ house, we eat the same dessert all Ramadan long. MAYBE towards the end will we venture out and get some ice cream, but for the most part we eat Ramadan dessert. My dad makes it from scratch so there’s really no competing with that. In those situations, I have to find a back up plan… and this dried fruit tray is my solution.
Not only a healthy alternative to dessert, but a gift that could serve as a decorative piece in a home. I filled my dried fruit tray with an assortment of dates and nuts, but you could choose whatever you’d like. There is a significance as to why dates are appropriate for Ramadan, but they could be swapped out for anything really. As for the tray, I went for a gold embellished piece that was reminiscent of the season, and flat enough for my fruit design to SLAY EVERYONE’S LIFE.
I used 3 different types of dates for my tray:
*Keep in mind that you want to provide a variety of textures when choosing fruits.
In between the coconut rolled dates, I added some dried figs.
Figs are AMAZING because they are filled with fiber. Also, they keep you full longer which is a MAJOR WIN when it comes to fasting and suhoor time.
Lastly I added some dried apricots to add a dietary fiber component for digestion and then some salted pistachios for the crunch.
