CHOCOLATE COOKIES AND CREAM CAKE

A classic cookies and cream cake with a chocolate twist.

When it comes to my family, vanilla cookies and cream won’t do. Everyone is a chocolate lover, and it’s an ingredient that indicates whether or not people will even try the dessert. My brother-in-law’s birthday was a few months ago, and I decided to come up with my own combination of a recipe for his birthday cake. I once memorized his ice cream order that consisted of chocolate ice cream and Oreo’s, so I knew that I had to take the cookies and cream route. I began with my favorite chocolate cake recipe which always resulted in a light and fluffy cake. The crunchy pieces of the crushed Oreo’s combined with the whipped buttercream really took it over the edge. I saved an extra slice just to take a photo of the inside, but it magically disappeared before I was even able to do so. I must have a chocolate cookies and cream monster living in my house.
