The Council of Fashion Designer’s of America Awards took place last night in NYC.
A crucial and very important night for the fashion world, which makes a more crucial and important night for the Red Carpet fashions. A short and sweet list, take a look at my best dressed list:
Rihanna embraced her nudity in a custom made Adam Selman shimmered & sequined gown with head piece to match, replicating circa 1940s. Yes, too extreme for the conservative eye, but we’re talking about Bad Gal RiRi here. Being rewarded the most important title of the night, Style Icon of the year, it’s expected for her to step on the scene in the most vivacious gown. She definitely accomplished.
Blake Lively brought a 70s go-go girl vibe to last night’s awards show wearing a glittering Michael Kors mini dress. Take a look at every awards show this blonde bombshell has attended, and you can see that she has covered almost ever iconic fashion era in history. The voluminous hair, chunky, bangles, and pop of color her heels brought a subtle yet glitzy vibe, making this look perfectly whole.

| Liya Kebede looked extremely chic in this all white Wes Gordon blouse and skirt with embroidered detail. Although in my opinion this look was a little too casual for the big time awards, I still thought she looked poised and fashionably put together. Her beach waves went well with the monochromatic ensemble and the sexy, strappy heels made her look lean, powerful fashion mogul. |
Solange Knowles was absolutely stunning in a Calvin Klein Collection embellished gown. This was my favorite look of the night. Another attendee to pull off a 70s look, with a disco ball-like feel, but in a more glamourous way. The thick, teased hair and pop of lip color set a dramatic yet calm tone to the already eye-popping look, complimenting each other for such a special evening.

Chanel Iman brought sex appeal and glamour in an all black embellished
Monique Lhuillier gown. The deep, sultry gothic look really is a different from what we are used to seeing from this sweet VS Angel, nevertheless it was a cool surprise. The silhouette of this dress made her look impeccably taller and accentuated her long limbs. The sheer detailed sleeves were the best part to me – because I am used to seeing a classic, elegant sleeve by Lhuiller. Another nice surprise on the red carpet.
Dree Hemingway wore a color blocked, print blocked, neutral accented dress by Diane von Furstenburg. All of the elements in this dress were spot on and very on trend to today’s fashions. When pairing accessories with this dress, I would never think to put a leopard print clutch against the snakeskin and polka dot patches of this dress… but of course, it looked freakin’ fabulous. Kudos to Dree’s stylist on that combination, because it was a huge hit.
who were your best dressed picks?
