UGG NO MORE

The world is coming to an end… UGG BOOTS ARE BACK.

Just when we thought that the world was turning upside-down last summer when Birkenstocks blew back up as the sandal of the season, the fashion outbreak of this year is that those boots that you usually  throw on for a milk run or slip on for Sunday brunch after a rough Saturday night are back in action. I was completely flabbergasted when I received my daily e-blast from People Style Watch Mag the other day with Uggs as the frontline header. However, I shouldn’t be too surprised because some of the most eligible fashion magazines were forecasting Uggs for the 2015 New Year. I think everyone still considered this quite a joke, and I am totally guilty of thinking the same. I’ve had the same black knit Uggs since 2006, use to wear them religiously, then started hiding them in my coat closet and just grabbing them for quick errands because I still considered them a fashion faux-pas. I’m sure you all reading right now can say that you too have had those Ugg boots you use to walk thru your high school in, and now no longer think twice about them.

But of course, when we start seeing the most stylish A-list celebrities strutting around town in these boots, it makes it ok and fashionable to wear them, right? Well… yes.  From supermodels to starlets to celebrity socialites, they are all partaking in this boot revival. & shockingly, I saw them everywhere on the streets of the Las Vegas strip on my vacation. Hello 2007, it’s weird to see you again.

So, the question is, will you be replacing your ten year old Uggs for a new fabulous pair?

I have to admit, my immediate response was "Noooooo." However, the thigh high uggs pictured are really cute. I wear my old ones to coffee shops and errands, but never to make a statement. That won't change for me, but now I won't feel as guilty when wearing them out. They have kind of been my fashion sin for the past 5 years. Always comfortable and convenient, but WILL NOT be slaying in these! LOL I am a fan of the Birkenstock trend. I have some metallic ones, but somehow I still feel my edge is kept in place when wearing them.

I've been seeing these creep back into pages too. And I too still have my old charcoal pair back from those days. I tossed another two pairs away a few years back but kept this one because it reminds me of all those battles my fur baby waged upon them and they make me laugh. Haven't worn them but I foresee this will change next winter.
