YOUR MOM’S DONUTS

Literally, it’s like you went to your mom’s house & she made you doughnuts from scratch.
One of the greatest things about living in Charlotte is that there’s always something going on. Weekends here are spent being very busy between attending events and having visitors come into town. A couple Saturday’s ago, a few of us decided to enjoy a calm Saturday morning and grab some breakfast before hitting my favorite coffee shop in town: Not Just Coffee in Atherton Mill. Since we had nothing on the agenda for the day, we took a mini trip to Matthews, NC (appr. 20 minutes outside of Charlotte) to try a doughnut shop that we were constantly hearing about. Your Mom’s Donuts is a farm to table doughnut shop (just hearing that, I was sold) where all doughnuts are made fresh daily. The flavors they have for the day depend on what is in season, and once they sell out, they close for the day. Just to give you an idea of what was on our menu when we went: Vanilla glazed, cinnamon sugar with cream cheese, chocolate ganache, blackberry lemon (my personal favorite), sweet potato cheesecake with maple glaze, salted caramel, honey glaze with graham and orange sugar, peach with cinnamon buttercream, Nutella mousse with ganache, banana bread pudding, and cranberry glaze with candied walnuts (Yes, I know).
Not Just Coffee was packed on Saturday due to the market going on, but every person that passed our table questioned where we got the doughnuts from. We were only a group of three, but they all looked so tempting that we had to get a dozen just to try them all. When in Rome, right? (Or in this case, Matthews…) It was totally worth the trip and has become my new favorite doughnut place in town. (Be careful Charlotte, this one will be hard to beat!)

Well I know what I will be doing this weekend, especially since the Panthers have an away game, can't wait to try them out!
