MERMAID EYE LINER

Check out my mermaid-esque, under the sea eye liner inspiration I created for summer + which products to buy to create this look.

Everyone knows my go-to makeup product for a color pop is red, boudoir lipstick, but this summer I’ve relocated my pop of color to another region on my face – gravitating more towards cool, ocean like color palettes of blues, greens and aquamarines under and over the lids of my eyes. This makeup change was inspired by my summer abroad since over the course of the two months, I’ve spent time visiting the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Dead Sea and will soon set eyes on the Black Sea within the next week.

I have two go-to colors by Marc Jacobs that I can’t seem to keep in stock in my own makeup bag, and played around with them as single colors then conjoined them for an easy, summertime look. Quite frankly, Marc Jacobs’ eyeliners in any color is absolutely fantastic. It glides on once applied and illuminates your lids with a flawless shimmer effect. Not to mention, my eyelash extensions done by The Beauty Loft in Uptown Charlotte completed and complimented these eyeliner looks so well.

(WARNING: I used a clean face for all of these looks).

‘Peri(dot)’ by Marc Jacobs is the lightest shade I use if I’m going for a more subtle vibe. Although lime green definitely is not a muted tone, it shows to be really calm for my olive/yellow skin tone.

‘Intro(vert)’ is the complete opposite of its name, because when put on it gives off a more extroverted, hype attitude. I love this color because it is so prominent when on that you don’t really need to apply much more makeup.

Lastly, I’m so intrigued with these two colors that I decided to blend them together for an ombré effect. I used Peri(dot) for my inter lid and then substituted it for Intro(vert) mid-way to past where my eyelashes ended. I think creating a cat-eye on your bottom lid without applying top eyeliner creates a new, more dramatic, clean finish. I’ve continued to do this when creating my look and have gotten great feedback (thank you everyone!)
