SUMMER TRAVELS: EGYPT

I took a vacation from my stay-cation and it was so refreshing. All about my Sharm El Sheikh trip…

If you ever find yourself taking a trip to Jordan and realize you want to go on a quick, tropical getaway for a few days, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt is the perfect destination to go to. You know those last minute, 3 – 4 day trips that tend to give you a sweldering migraine during all the planning of it? (Which is absolutely not worth it for the time you’re actually vacationing for) – Well, I can tell you that this trip was sincerely a last minute planned vacation for my family and I that was too easy breezy + we didn’t even have to think twice about it.

So when packing for a four day trip to Sharm, here’s a checklist of things you’ll need (besides the obvious accessories such as bathing suit and sunglasses):

  • Sunscreen + tanning oil (& tons of it. The weather gets up to 100 degrees fahrenheit!)
  • A cheap pair of flip flops. You’re going to want to wear these on the beach, even when you’re about to take a dip in the ocean because the sand is horrendously scorching.
  • A hat while sunbathing because again, 100 degrees fahrenheit.
  • The lightest articles of clothing for night time activities. It gets breezy at night but when the breeze stops, you’ll definitely be able to break a sweat or two.
  • Flat sandals while walking around, because there is a ton of touristic areas

If you think this is the trip for you and need a hotel recommendation, I wouldn’t recommend anything other than the Rixos Sea Gate Hotel. This ultra all-inclusive resort overlooks the gulf of Aqaba, right on the vibrant Red Sea where palm trees are planted all over-site. They have eleven immaculate swimming pools to choose from, their biggest including a swim-up bar. As far as fine dining goes, they have a melting-pot of restaurants to choose from such as Turkish and Chinese. The best part about this resort? Free wi-fi wherever you go, so there’s no hassle of using extra data from opening up your HotSpot.

Places to see while in Sharm? It was hard leaving our resort for a couple of hours (because it was THAT fabulous), but the most popular touristic-flooded attractions to visit would definitely have to be Na’ama Bay and Soho Square. These are two separate and very lively streets where you can shop around for souvenirs, dance to street music, enjoy fruit cocktails or gelato, and grab a hookah and watch live entertainment. They are both places you don’t want to skip out on, so make sure a camera is handy.
