BEST DRESSED: 2014 SCREEN ACTOR’S GUILD AWARDS

The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards took place this past Saturday night and guess what?
I MISSED IT!!!
During awards season, I am ALWAYS on my A-Game and never miss a step. So can anyone tell me why in the world the awards show took place on a Saturday night? The tradition is that award shows are almost always on Sunday and I was super disappointed to find out I was missing it. So of course right when I found out, I had to jump on all of my social media sites to check out the fashions.

I must say, [once again] I am impressed with how the ladies are stepping it up on the red carpet thus far in the season. Although there were MANY fashion misses at this event, the best dressed list really kicked it up a notch and covered for the less-fashion-fortunate.

Here are my best dressed picks in random order:

Sandra Bullock killed it in this beautiful emerald green Lanvin dress. This was a MUCH better option for her than what she wore to the Golden Globes. The cut and fit was flawless, just like her hair and makeup and the green really brought out her beautiful brunette features.

OK, so bare with me before you jump to any conclusions as to why I have Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan Atelier on my best dressed list. I can admit that I am guilty as charged for being so over her showing up to every awards show in a strapless dress. We all know that the actress absolutely loves to accentuate her curves in a curve hugging strapless gown and it really is getting too repetitive. BUT I think that this one tops the cake. I love that this gown wasn’t a sweetheart neckline and the sequins were amazing. She looked like a vintage vixen with her hair and makeup.

Lupita N’yongo in Gucci (aka favorite #1). Just when you thought she couldn’t do better than her Ralph Lauren cape dress from the Globes, she did. The color was absolutely beautiful on her dark chocolate skin and the sleekness of the dress was phenomenal. I love the floral detail on her chest because it truly accentuated her face. All I have to say is… this rookie rules on the carpet.

What a fashion change for Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi. I love all of the risks she has been taking on the red carpet so far in the season. This is a much different silhouette than what we are used to from the good girl, and the cobalt blue was a huge pop of color for the fair skinned lady. Her hair was A+!

Last but not least, my favorite #2 was of course, my girl Cate Blanchett in Givenchy. I mean, how amazing was this? I could not get over it when I first locked my eyes on her. The pale pink on her fair skin color really wouldn’t have worked on anyone else and she really can do no wrong. This dress was so unexpected and who better than Cate to rock it on the carpet? It was stunning and tasteful all in one.
