BEST DRESSED: 2013 GRAMMY AWARDS

Last night was the 55th annual Grammy Awards, which happens to be my favorite awards show because of all the music celebrated, and of course the crazy fashion choices on the Red Carpet.
But unfortunately, last night’s Grammys was kind of a disappointment for me as far as fashion. I didn’t have many favorites and the ladies didn’t go all out like I thought they would… it may have been because of the dress code memo the awards’ show producers sent out, saying that guests cannot wear anything too showy or anything that reveals “puffy skin” (?) but it still saddens me that there weren’t many risks taken. It’s the GRAMMYS people, these artists are supposed to show off their unique fashion senses! If not at the Grammys, where else?
Maybe it was because the queens of psychedelic styles like Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj weren’t in attendance… which by the way, did anyone else feel like they should have been there?
It was also sad not to see Justin Bieber. He was not nominated for anything and he put out a HUGE album last July. I feel like these three not being at the Grammys definitely felt weird.
Anyway – here are my favorites from last night’s show:

Rihanna in a custom made a-line Alia dress. She was stunning last night and all eyes and cameras were on her on and off the Grammys stage. She was daring in red and it was sheer in the right places. Her hair style was beautiful and it reminded me of throwback Rihanna in her ‘Pon de Replay’ days. Loved everything about her look last night!

Katy Perry in a cleavage-bearing mint green Gucci dress. I was pleasantly surprised to see her in something that doesn’t have wings on it or plain black hair instead of blue, but I love the mature look she went for. The detailed embellishments at the top were a nice touch and it flattered her so well.

Kelly Rowland amazed me in this sexy Georges Chakra number. She is always looking beautiful but I never expect it to be quite honest. Time and time again on the red carpet she always steps on and shocks people. I love the symmetry of the patterns and thought she was bomb in this.

Florence Welch in a custom made Givenchy Couture gown. Not many words needed for this one – green is one heck of a color for this fiery flamed girl. The ‘dinosaur’ like spikes are so her; it probably wouldn’t have worked for anyone else. Love. Love. Love.

Kelly Osbourne was so chic in this Paule Ka cut out dress. The Fashion Police star should applaud herself for how gorgeous she looked. The slicked back and sleek ponytail was a wise choice and I loved the minimalistic accessories, like that gold bracelet. I adore her and how far she’s come in fashion.

Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli. This dress is absolutely beautiful on Carrie, BUT I was actually disappointed with her choice. I was expecting to see her in something bright and exuberant with of course, glitter and sparkle. She kept it safe last night, but next time, we want to see our usual Carrie come out in something BIG.
Who were your favorites?
Have a happy Monday!
