BEST DRESSED: 2014 ACADEMY AWARDS
Happy Monday Everyone!
So last night’s 2014 Academy Awards (Oscars) were incredible.
As far as the red carpet goes, this was by far the best that the celebrities have looked collectively this awards season. There were so many best dressed looks to choose from that I really couldn’t narrow it down to just a few. Honestly, even the ladies that weren’t on my Best Dressed list still looked amazing.
There was a trending pattern that we saw last night, the chicks either went dark and sultry, or went classic in cream & white gowns. Overall, there was so much fabulousness I couldn’t handle it!
Take a look at my Best Dressed List:
Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen could probably tie for first place on my best dressed list. Navy is everything to me right now and I would have to say it is my new favorite color so when I saw Sandy in this beautiful silk gown I definitely freaked. The smoky eye makeup and vintage-glam hair made this look subtle, yet sexy and edgy at the same time. One of my favorites of the night!

Charlize Theron in Dior was a jaw-dropper for me. I am always on the look out for the South African beauty when it comes time for award season because she is one of my style muses and always looks so effortlessly stunning when she steps out on the scene. This black sweetheart gown was unexpected but such a nice change from what you’re used to on the carpet. She screams fierceness!

Cate Blanchett, another one of my style muses that I am constantly looking forward to seeing on the Red Carpet was so elegant in a cream and all embellished Armani Prive gown. I say this time and time again, but I truly believe that she is the only woman that can wear a dress the same color as her skin tone and look like a flawless porcelain doll. Others would probably look pasty and washed out in a look like this, but no, not Cate the Great. It was overall perfection in my opinion!

Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace has got to be one of my favorite looks ever. The blonde bombshell has really been stepping her game up when it comes to the awards and damn, she looked amazing! This look was so chic and the cape was everything to me. The plunging neckline is so perfect for her flat chest and the almost metallic white was so glamorous on her skin. I absolutely loved this look!

How adorable was Kerry Washington in Jason Wu? It’s crazy to think that this time last year she was a rookie red carpet-er and almost killed on the carpet every single time. No one thought that she would continue to be such a fashionista but here she is rocking it out in this beautiful plum colored strapless gown, wearing the best accessory – her tummy! The deep berry lipstick was a great add on and she was completely glowing overall. She took a major fashion risk last night because she is the first starlet to ever wear a Jason Wu creation on the carpet, and I applaud her. 2 great people representing each other!

Fashion Police star Kelly Osbourne has a lot to live up to when it comes to events because she is one of the biggest critics in the fashion industry right now. I can completely fess up in saying that at the beginning of her Fashion Police career, I did not have much faith in her, (probably because of her pink hair, raccoon eyed punk/rock days) and thought she had nothing to do with the fashion world. BUT every time I see her on the red carpet, she has been looking incredible. The Badgley Mischka ensemble she rocked last night was impeccable, and how amazing was that gold shawl? A+++!

Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab Haute Couture was so glitzy and glamorous. This gown looks like it could have been custom-made for this starlet because it makes such a huge statement, and Angie herself has made such a huge impact in the entertainment industry and in the world overall. She has some sort of grace that really turns us all on, and I thought the sheer bedazzled sleeved gown was just the perfect amount of eye-popping and gracefulness that it could get.

Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein Collection. How perfect of a combination? But really? She is such simple yet elegant girl and Calvin Klein knows how to make such clean elegant pieces, so it really is a match made in heaven. The white was so delicate and not over-bearing on her fair skin and anytime there is a touch of red lipstick, you know I’m hooked. I really liked the way she had her hair casually slicked back because it focused on the gown and the sick necklace she wore.

Anne Hathaway looked so edgy and chic in Gucci last night. I really like the way she dressed because she was only there to present the Best Actress award and this dress to me was just right for that. It was so amazing for the Oscars yet its clean lines and straight silhouette made it appropriate for just a presenter to wear. It made a bold statement without it being too much.
