Derek Lam for Kohl’s

I am so ecstatic for this amazing new collaboration happening.

Derek Lam for Kohl’s is going to be a big hit. I think this was a very smart idea for Kohl’s to bring in a major designer into their stores because in all honesty, a lot of people tend to forget about this amazing department store. Derek Lam is following in the direction of many famous designers like Vera Wang (who also happens to have a line at Kohl’s) and all of the Target collaborations (Neiman Marcus, Missoni, Prabal Gurung, etc). I am a huge fan of Kohl’s and love all of the big names that they have in their stores, so this is just going to be another fantastic addition!

For those of you who are not familiar with designer Derek Lam, he is a graduate from the Parsons School of Design and once worked as the assistant to Michael Kors. Eventually, his hard work paid off and became the Vice President of Michael Kors’ more affordable line, Kors. After years of working with MK he officially launched his own label, Derek Lam, back in 2003. Since then he has been awarded with the CFDA Perry Ellis Swarovski Award for New Designers and has designed ready-to-wear clothes, shoes and accessories. He is a household name in the fashion industry and this diffusion line he has designed for Kohl’s is just another huge step in his career.

So with that said, here are a few sneak peak pictures from the Derek Lam for Kohl’s lookbook. You can catch the rest on Kohl’s website or IN STORE this FRIDAY, April 5th!

I’m excited to rock some of these pieces for spring + summertime! The heavy use of the nature palette used in this collection will be fabulous with a great looking tan. The patterns he used are not overbearing but chic to rock on a cool spring day and I like how some of these silhouettes are perfect for summer – not too clingy for a hot and humid summer day.
They will make perfect and comfortable casual looks!
What do you all think about the collection?
Will you shop it?
xoxo
