About a month ago, my
sister and I attended one of the biggest events that happens around Columbia, SC. That event being the Columbia Museum of Art’s Gala that they put on every single year. It’s a formal event that happens at the exquisite Museum of Art that people get dolled up for and coordinate formal gowns with the theme of the party. It’s a fabulous chance for people to get their hair and makeup
done as well as pull out their most fabulous gowns.
This year, the them was from Geisha to Gatsby.
I was sort of unsure of the theme when I first heard it, wondering how the Asian culture had anything to do with an era of time that people admire so much. Then I learned that the theme of the actual museum was showcasing Asian art in the era of the 1920s. It all made sense to me!
With that said, people had the option to dress like geishas, wearing floral kimono gowns with chopsticks in their hair, or go with the flapper-style look, wearing head bands, red lipstick, and anything that glittered. I’ve always wanted to attend a Gatsby-themed party (since I’m a huge fan) and thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so. It was also the perfect opportunity to
RENT THE RUNWAY.
To my surprise, when I was looking at dresses to rent, I realized that rental prices became MUCH more affordable than they were last year, so that was an extra plus for my rental experience!
Because of my olive-toned skin and dark features,
I thought that this was the perfect dress for moi:
Take the Stage Gown – Badgley Mischka
RETAIL – $795
RENTAL – $70
Due to the fact that I had rented the runway before, as well as
rented a Badgley Miscka gown before, I knew the fit and was familiar with the
style of this gown. & of course, it was all I hoped it to be!
I loved this dress and thought it was absolutely beautiful, and with every other Rent the Runway dress I’ve had, I got compliments all around. I highly suggest everyone try this method at least once!
