Must Have Monday: Makeup Essentials

It is very rare that I do posts about makeup, but I thought that it was super necessary for my Must Have Monday post since I have been a little more obsessed with it than usual. Plus it’s probably because of my part-time job at a local makeup boutique in Columbia (which I so enjoy working at!)
Prior to a year and a half ago you could ask me about makeup, but I definitely wouldn’t have the answers or even know what I do now about all of the latest makeup tools and the best products out there. The best part about working at a makeup boutique is that every day you get to experiment and play around with all of the mesmerizing makeup and while doing that, you learn something new about a product. I’ve learned about so many amazing cosmetics brands and tried many products that I now know I will use for years and years to come!
With that said, here are a list of some of my favorite items in the cosmetics department right now, as well as a few of my makeup staples that I can absolutely swear by!

The Elephant Palette {chantecaille, $82}
every season chantecaille releases a fabulous eye shadow palette, and the elephant palette happens to be my favorite one thus far. the colors are great for a sultry night out and the hint of shimmer brightens your eyes.

Rose Petals Highlighter Powder {chantecaille, $74}
this illuminating powder is great as a final product to put on your face. after you have put on your foundation, bronzer, blush, and whatever else is in your makeup regime, apply this powder all over your face with a full face brush and you’ll find your face sparkling and shining.

Viva Glam III Lipstick {MAC, $15}
one rich and sexy plum lip color must be in every girl’s makeup bag,
 and this is one I absolutely recommend. it’s a fierce and bold color but
 it will turn heads for sure!

Up The Amp Lipstick {MAC, $15}
i’ve been on the hunt for a playful purple lip color for a while, so I’m glad I found this amazing one. it’s unique and very eye-popping and definitely a risk that I was willing to take. purple is not a lip color that you see everyday so you want to make sure you find a good one.

In the Light Eye Shadow Palette {stila, $39}
Stila has some great palettes but this one has to be my favorite. The very neutral yet stand-out colors included in this palette are great for an every day look. Also included are eye tutorial directions so you can try out many different eye shadow looks!

Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base {NARS, $24}
this product is definitely one to keep in your makeup bag. every day prior to applying shadow on your eyes, add some of this base onto your upper lid, then style your eye with whichever colors you choose for that day. at the end of the day you’re going to see that your shadow hasn’t budged at ALL keeping everything in place. It is magic.

Taos Blush {NARS, $28}
This is not your ordinary blush color. Taos is a blood-red with a hint of orange, giving your cheeks a sultry pop of color. It’s great for a porcelain face or even a sun-kissed one.

Lip Insurance Lip Primer {too faced, $19}
ever have trouble with having to reapply lipstick every hour? look no further. this lip primer is to be applied before putting your favorite lip color on, and you’ll see you won’t have to reapply for HOURS.

Glamour Daze Fluidline Eye Liner {MAC, $16.50}
it took me forever to try and find a great eye liner, so when I found this one I was ecstatic. this gel eye liner is so amaze that you only have to apply it ONCE in one day. take a thin slanted eye liner blush to apply on your lids and under your lids and you’ll see that it is a stay all day liner.

Sugar Lip Polish {fresh, $22.50}
I have a major issue with chapped lips all year ’round. i’m a lipstick chick and love wearing lip colors, and you know chapped lips and lipstick don’t mix well. for dry lips, take this polish and scrub it on your pout, then rinse off with warm water. you will see sleek and smooth lips that lipstick will easily glide onto.

Tickle My France-y {OPI, $8.50}
i’ve been a fan of this color for quite a while now and it’s a lacquer that is great for every day. it is a light lime color with a hint of gray, making a chic neutral look for your fingers. you’ll get compliments from all around!
