Who we are

Always Two Fabulous (https://alwaystwofabulous.com) is a personal lifestyle blog written by two sisters, Dania and Aya Alshafei, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. We write about style, food, travel, beauty and family life. You can reach us at alwaystwofabulous@gmail.com.

This policy explains what information our website collects, why, and what choices you have. It applies to this blog only. Our online shop lives on a separate site with its own policy.

What we collect, and when

Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website you type into the form, along with your IP address and browser details, which helps us detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments are checked by the Akismet anti-spam service, run by Automattic, which receives the comment text and the details above in order to decide whether it is spam. Automattic’s privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy.

If you tick the box to remember your details, your browser stores small cookies holding your name, email and website for about a year so you don’t have to retype them. Clearing your cookies removes them.

Contact form

When you use our contact form, the name, email address and message you send are emailed to us so we can reply. We keep those emails for as long as we need them to handle your request.

Recipe ratings

If you rate a recipe, the rating is stored together with your IP address so that each person can rate once.

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information about each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the time of your visit. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure and are deleted automatically by the host after a short period.

What we do not collect

We do not run advertising networks, visitor analytics or social-media tracking pixels on this blog. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first. We do not sell, rent or trade any information about our readers.

Affiliate links

Some of the product links on this blog are affiliate links, mainly through LTK (rewardStyle), ShopStyle Collective, Amazon Associates and ShareASale. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the blog running, and it never affects what we choose to recommend. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or network may place its own cookies on your device to credit the referral; those cookies are governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

Content from other websites

Posts on this blog may embed content from other services, including Instagram photos, YouTube videos and Pinterest pins. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website directly: that service may collect data about you, use its own cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you are logged in to that service. The Instagram feed in our footer shows images stored on our own server, but clicking them takes you to Instagram.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services needed to run this site:

  • Bluehost, our web host in the United States, which stores the website and its database.
  • Automattic, which provides the Akismet spam filter described above.
  • Dropbox and Google, where encrypted copies of our regular website backups are stored. Backups contain the comments and ratings described above.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep information

Comments and recipe ratings are kept indefinitely so that conversations under a post remain intact, unless you ask us to remove yours. Contact-form emails are kept only as long as needed. Backups are kept for a limited number of weeks and then overwritten.

Your choices and rights

If you have ever commented on this blog or written to us, you can ask us to send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email alwaystwofabulous@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm you are the person the information belongs to. We do not have to keep information we are required to retain for legal or security reasons.

Readers in the European Union, United Kingdom and similar jurisdictions have these rights under their data-protection laws, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA; because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

This blog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has left personal information here, please email us and we will remove it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, is monitored by a website security service, and is backed up regularly. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the small amount of information we hold.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Questions are always welcome at alwaystwofabulous@gmail.com.
